Livery Banquet at Salters Hall
Following the October Joiners Court of Livery , the Master presided over a splendid Dinner in wonderful surroundings at Salters' Hall in Fore Street, EC 1 on 13th October 2009.
The Liverymen and their guests much enjoyed a banquet provided by "Lifes Kitchen," in the elegant atmosphere of Salters Hall. The Master introduced the principal guests, Capt Patrick Walker RN Retd, Comdr Andy Coles RN, Commander of HMS Astute,, the Joiner's affiliated Royal Naval submarine, which is due to be commissioned in January 2010 at Fasslaine. We were also pleased to welcome other members of the Astute's Crew, CPO Ian Wharrie RN, Lt Lindsay Thaites RN, Lt Rob Richards RN sub Lt Oliver Brooksbank RN and LET Michael Allan RN . He was also delighted to present the newly created Joiners Cup to the first recipient Chief Petty Officer Ian Wharrie following his nomination, for his great contribution to the working life of HMS Astute, in its run-up to commissioning next year.
Among the other 29 guests we were pleased to entertain . Captain Michael Davis-Marks, RN who had been instrumental in facilitating the association betwen HMS Astute and the Joiners Compnay and The Lord Remnant PM of the Salters' Company and an old colleague of the Master in his younger working days.
It was in the opinision of all present a most successfull evening and congratulations are due to our worthy Clerk, Amanda Jackson who organised such a most successful evening.
