The Annual and much awaited Joiners and Ceilers' 2009 Commemoration service was held as usual at St. James' Garlyckhythe Church on July 21st.
A goodly gathering of Liverymen, Freemen, their spouses and famillies attending the worship in the Church after which they all paraded back through the City Streets, to the Tallow Chandlers' Hall for a very splendid, warm and friendly Dinner in the wonderful surroundings.
During the after procedings , The Master, David Spencer-Phillips, presented the Joiners craft competition winners with their prizes , both financial and in kind, The winner was Luke C Ireson, with Gary Wright being awarded the runners up prize . We were also pleased to entertain members of Kilby and Gayford Ltd , the Joinery company who provided the facilities for the competion and James Latham plc who supplied all of the timber required.
This is the last official company event for the Master of the year, David Spencer-Phillips, who gave a warm and stirring speech on this, his swansong as Master Joiner. It has indeed been a splendid year for him and all Joiners
