14th June 2023 @ 6:15 pm - 10:30 pm BST
The Master and Wardens invite you to attend a Medieval Midsummer Banquet which will be held at Haberdashers’ Hall, 18 West Smithfield, London EC1A 9HQ. The timing for dinner will be 18.15 for 18.45 and dress will be white tie (optional black tie) with neck medals or Livery breast jewels / evening dress equivalent for ladies.
On arrival, you will be serenaded by a band of minstrels from 241 (Wanstead and Woodford) ATC Squadron whilst enjoying a sparkling reception. At 18.45, a trumpet fanfare will herald the start of the evening’s entertainment with a demonstration of historical fencing techniques “Through the Ages” of sword fighting. To the sound of clashing steel and the sparkle of swords, prepare to be dazzled by the duelling expertise of Liveryman Chris Castle and Jack Butcher – not for the fainthearted!
Then into the magnificent Great Hall for the Banquet with each course chosen as typical fare from medieval times. A musical interlude during the Banquet will feature period musical instruments kindly loaned by the Turners’ Company and demonstrated by a leading professor from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
In order to encourage as many Young Liverymen (aged under 35 years) to attend this prestigious event, the Master and Wardens have agreed that there should be a reduction of 50% in the ticket price for this group who may also invite one guest at the reduced price.
Closing date for ticket applications is Monday 5 June 2023.
